“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

It's Time to Empower our Children

We like to think when we drop our children at school they are entering a safe zone, however, stats prove otherwise. 25% of children in grades 4 to 6 have been bullied. Bullying occurs once every 7 minutes on the playground and once every 25 minutes in the classroom! School educators have come to recognize the need and understand the benefits of teaching children at an earlier age how to empower themselves, how to stand up for themselves and for those around them, and simply how to say “no!”

Thus sparked the creation of a PowerED curriculum for children. While the program was initially developed for older youth to help them develop confidence and independence through assertive communication, self-defense techniques, and wellness, it was clear these messages should be communicated at an even younger age.

The curriculum was modified to offer more play, stories and exercises designed for the physical development. The goal is to offer activities that integrate social aspects with fun!

Sadly, the frequency of violent acts, bullying and aggression is increasing in schools

Children often feel powerless to take action to address any negative issues facing them. By introducing relevant issues and providing the tools to deal with them, they can learn how to report if one feels scared or unsafe, or assert themselves in a way that is non-threatening, yet effective. The physical activities and exercises practiced throughout the program help to develop co-ordination skills, improve conditioning, increase flexibility and agility, and promote relaxation.
